Accounts, comments and privacy
Last updated: 9 October 2026. This note explains how information is used in this version of the site.
About this site
This site presents independent projects and articles by Alp Imamoglu. For questions about accounts, comments or your information, contact info@alpimamoglu.com.
Information stored for an account
An account stores your display name, email address, a one-way password hash, registration and verification dates, and the version of the guidelines you acknowledged. Passwords are not stored as readable text. You can add an optional short bio. You are not asked for your real name, phone number, employer or precise location.
Your display name, optional bio and approved comments are public. Your email address, password hash and account links are not public. The site owner can view member email addresses to administer accounts and communicate when needed.
Comments and moderation
The site stores comment text, the associated article, reply relationships, dates, publication status and reports. New and edited comments await review. Only you and the editor can see your pending comment. Once approved, other visitors can see it. The owner may decline off-topic or inappropriate comments and suspend accounts that break the guidelines.
Managing or deleting your account
From My account, you can change your display name and bio, change your password, download your profile and comments, or delete your account. Deleting an account removes the profile and its comment text from the active site. Replies written by other people may remain under their names. A separate Brevo newsletter subscription is not cancelled by account deletion.
Unverified accounts older than seven days are removed during the next account or community write operation. Account-verification links last 24 hours; password-reset links last one hour. Copies in technical backups are removed according to the backup schedule. Hosting logs depend on the provider’s settings. Contact the address above to discuss deletion requests relating to these records.
Email and Brevo
Newsletter subscriptions are created through the subscription form only. Creating an account or writing a comment does not automatically add you to the newsletter list. Newsletters concern new articles and project updates. Each newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
Opening the subscription form connects your browser to Brevo. Brevo processes the information you submit; your IP address and browser-related technical information may also be sent when connecting. Brevo’s own privacy terms apply. Once the email connection is configured, account-verification and password-reset messages are also sent through Brevo. These transactional messages are separate from newsletter subscriptions.
Cookies and technical records
The account and editor areas use a necessary session cookie to keep you signed in and validate forms. No analytics or advertising tracker has been added to this site. The Brevo form is not loaded until you open it. Short-lived attempt counters help limit abuse and use digests derived from IP addresses. The hosting provider may maintain additional access and security logs.
Comment guidelines
Share a relevant experience, question or disagreement. Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, repeated advertising and unauthorised personal or company information are not published. Do not impersonate others. Use Report if a comment needs the editor’s attention. A confirmed email address does not establish a person’s real-world identity.
Demos and contact
Demos use illustrative data. Do not enter real customer, employee or company information. The portfolio’s contact box opens a message in your own email account and does not save the text to this site. Email, LinkedIn and other external services have their own terms.
